2027 BMW 3 Series M350 xDrive: What Sets the M Performance 3 Series Apart

Published on Oct 23, 2026 by Josiah Kaufman

The 2027 BMW M350 xDrive is the performance flagship of the gasoline 3 Series and the entry point to BMW M. It replaces the M340i with an inline six-cylinder engine that now makes 437 horsepower, up from 386, plus standard all-wheel drive and a chassis tuned for hard driving. Here’s what you get over the standard 330 models, from the drivetrain to the details you can see.

Overview

Power:
A 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder with 48V mild-hybrid technology delivers 437 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque, with a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds.

Hardware:
xDrive, Adaptive M Suspension, variable sport steering, an M Sport differential, and M Sport brakes all come standard.

Look:
Standard Iconic Glow lighting, an M Sport exterior, a rear spoiler, and quad exhaust tailpipes mark it as the M Performance model.

Mechanical Differences

The biggest change is under the hood. The 330 and 330 xDrive use a 255-horsepower four-cylinder with 295 lb-ft of torque and reach 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. The M350 xDrive uses a 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder with 437 horsepower and 428 lb-ft, and it reaches 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. A starter generator in the transmission housing adds up to 17 horsepower through the 48V mild-hybrid system. It isn’t a plug-in or full hybrid, and there’s nothing to charge. Power goes through an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic with paddle shifters, and there is no manual.

The chassis gets just as much attention. Standard equipment includes:

xDrive all-wheel drive, which is an upcharge on the 330.

Adaptive M Suspension, which is optional on other models only with the M Sport package.

Variable sport steering and an M Sport differential.

M Sport brakes with blue calipers, with red available.

A tower-to-front-end strut and improved anti-roll-bar mounting for added body rigidity.

The driving modes go further too. M Sport and M Sport Plus settings are exclusive to this model, and a Boost button delivers an immediate power reserve. A new Drift Moment mode, activated through the Central Display, sends all drive power to the rear wheels for controlled cornering slides. BMW says it arrives during 2027, will be added by software update to cars already delivered, and is reserved for M Performance models.

Visual Differences

Outside, the M350 xDrive comes with the M Sport package as standard, including the M Aerodynamics package with model-specific bumpers, side skirts, and a diffuser. The Iconic Glow kidney grille is standard, where other 3 Series models offer it as an option, and optional M Yellow Lights, inspired by GT racing, add a motorsport touch at the front. The rear gets an M-specific light signature, a standard rear spoiler, and four exhaust tailpipes. High-gloss black M mirror caps complete the look. Standard wheels are 19-inch Style 1139 M alloys in Jet Black, with 20-inch wheels available in Jet Black, Refined Silver, or bicolor Black, and sport tires are available with the 20s.

Inside, the M steering wheel is standard, with a flattened rim and spokes at four and eight o’clock. A Harman Kardon sound system is standard, while the 330 comes with a seven-speaker hi-fi system. The BMW M interior pairs Black Veganza with M PerformTex, and optional M Sport seats add pronounced side bolsters and illuminated M logos on the backrests. The optional M Technology Package bundles 20-inch Refined Silver wheels, additional cooling, high-performance tires, a Black BMW Individual interior with Merino leather, and M Sport seats. The available BMW Digital Premium package adds M In-Car Apps, including M Cockpit, M Drag Meter, M Laptimer, and M Channel.

Everything else carries over from the rest of the 3 Series: the 17.9-inch Central Display, BMW Panoramic Vision, Operating System X, and Driving Assistant Plus.
